into the Wild
For this project we read the book into the wild and lived it. We created tools to use as we went out to Anza Borrego, such as tents, camping stoves, lights, and coolers. As reading the book we took all sorts of notes and we then turned it into out ITW journal that was more like a scrapbook. This was one of those projects that was time consuming but you had so much fun during it you didn't even realize.
My ITW song
Run Wild River, to the sea
Deep and cold, clean and free.
Both our hearts will beat as one.
Never let them stop your run.
Mountain river, blue and cold
Rushing hard and running bold.
Wild and free, I can hear it.
Don't you let them take your spirit.
The crackling of each tree
Brings you down, just to see.
The true meaning, of the lands
Play back and forth from nature's hands.
Chainsaws roar and roads are built
Make them cross your piles of silt.
They will dam you if they can
Only stop to pay the man.
Alaska's gift from snow to shore
Flows through forest shade and more.
Give and touch just like a mother.
Run Wild River, to the sea
Deep and cold, clean and free.
Both our hearts will beat as one.
Never let them stop your run.
Deep and cold, clean and free.
Both our hearts will beat as one.
Never let them stop your run.

Rushing hard and running bold.
Wild and free, I can hear it.

SOda can stove and Headlamp explanations
Soda can stove works by having a soda can with fuel jets and denatured alcohol being lighted. The alcohol gets to a point after it's been lighted and starts to boil. This heats up the smaller outer chamber that pushes the vapors out of the fuel jets and also the chamber that takes in the alcohol. The alcohol gets pressurized into two chamber to push out the flames. Once the pressure is built up inside the chamber with the jets the vapor starts to come out in little tiny flames.
Heat from a fire starts off with radiation, convection, and conduction. Radiation is the heat coming off of the fire that you feel or the heat coming off of the water. Then from the radiation that comes off in waves goes to the pot which creates conduction. Conduction is the heat on the pot that spreads through the metal part from the hottest part of the pot, near the fire, to make the rest of the pot heat up as well. While the conduction is happening slowly there is convection in the water. Heat always goes from hot to cold so the water on the bottom heats quicker. It goes from the hot water up to the cold water to make hotter water pushing the cold water down and making it hot over and over again in a circle. The hot water is less dense than the cold water that’s why it rises to the top.
A headlamp works by having a circuit that includes a battery, a LED light, resistors, and wires. A circuit works by having a power source go to something through conductors to make something move or have a light. For the headlamp I’m making, I have the lights in a parallel circuit so that if one goes out they won’t all go out. I have the switch in series so that I can have one switch to turn on all the lights. There are resistors because the LED light is designed to only have 18 mA of current before it burns out right away. The resistors go before the bulb so it slows down the current and makes less voltage.
